Congratulations to our 3 winners at ASPS Congress, Perth 2024

1. Graham U'ren who won two awards.

Both entered as a member of Glasgow Thematic Society.

Thematic class entry  “Native Birds of Ukraine” (2 frames).   Small Silver Gilt medal.

Description - The main aim is to present some of the numerous native birds of Ukraine’s important habitats as they appear on stamps.  One sub theme is the commitment to conservation demonstrated through stamp issues.  A second is the way in which birds symbolise and have been affected by the history of the country, including the current conflict with Russia.

Literature class (Articles; published by individual philatelists) “Flights of Fancy – Writing about Bird Stamps”.  Gold medal and James Merrylees Trophy.

Description - The Bird Stamp Society was formed in 1986, since when its magazine “Flight” has appeared quarterly without a break. After it was revitalised in 2017, I started to submit articles on ornithological and philatelic aspects of my collection.  This award is for a selection of 8 which have been published between 2019 and 2023.

Robson Lowe Salver for the National Literature prize (book) & Large Silver Gilt medal for the book "Ayrshire Post Offices and Postmarks 1661-2023: Part I Post Offices" (part 1)

I'm told part 2 will be published/submitted next year.
