"50th Anniversary Dinner"

50 years old!  The Lanarkshire Philatelic Society celebrated its 50th Anniversary on Friday evening, 8th September with a most enjoyable Dinner at the Bentley Hotel in Motherwell.  It was attended by many members both former and present – and this included 22 Past Presidents, one of whom travelled up from the south of England to be present.

After Grace was said by Past President, Rev. Bill Izett, members thoroughly enjoyed the Dinner, after which the President, Terry Woods reminded members of some of the History of the Society.  It had its beginnings in a member’s home and continued through  various places including  Motherwell Library and St Andrew’s Church in Hamilton -  and so to its present abode in the Caledonian Bowling Club in Hamilton.  The President of the Association of Scottish Philatelic Societies, Richard Cuthbertson, presented his congratulations to the Society for attaining 50 years – and wished it every success in the future.
