Members' Night

"All I want for Christmas is......"

 

"All I want for Christmas..." was the theme, sponsored by Sheila Sinclair, for our last meeting of 2005.

Paul McGowan started with postage stamps depicted on postage stamps, followed by Margaret Lyth's narration of her Christmas story.

Eric Ross showed "Waterfalls of the World" and Ken Mathieson "Hieroglyphs".

Albert Tong showed UK Habitat Conservation stamps with Jim Fulton showing us Salonika.

Alex Magowan completed round one with US Miniature sheets.

For the second round President Derek Wilshire started with a "Miscellany of Wishes" with David Brown showing us his "Classic Cars".

Gordon Shepherd followed with "Larkhall's Two Railway Stations" with John Potter choosing Christmas Day Postal Cancellations.

Maureen Mathieson then showed her 2005 Swiss stamps which included some cheeky mice!!, with Jessie Henderson showing the "Diamond Jubilee of the end of World War 2 & Bicentenary of Trafalgar".

Elsie Miller chose "Christmas Cards".

Round three comprised Ken Norris showing "Scout Posts" from Bellshill, Carluke and Hamilton; Sam Sankus with his Russian Cinderella labels and advertising stamps; Frank Jardine chose the "12 Days of Christmas" with (appropriately) Christmas Island stamps.

Alex Grimson chose post war Postmark Slogans with Terry Woods choosing Jamaica.

Rev Bill Izatt chose "Let there be Missions"; Ellen Currie went on a trip to Paris and Margaret Allan completed the evening with a few wishes for Christmas. 

An enjoyable evenings entertainment was accorded a warm vote of thanks by Margaret Allan.
