"The Committee Entertain!"...........

is the traditional theme for the first meeting of a new year.

Paul McGowan, a geography teacher, started off with "Maps on Stamps", while Ian MacPherson showed some "exploded" booklets and First Day Covers from the Isle of Man.

Mike Pomeroy, an "Exciseman" by profession, showed a collection of Revenue stamps and Alan Wishart material from the reign of Tsar Nicolas II.

Alex Magowan excelled with two boards of material on his favourite subject-Rugby; and Julia McLeod showed us postcards and postmarks of the stations on the "Iron Road to the Isles"-the Glasgow to Mallaig rail line. Your webmaster completed the first round with some 1930s Fiji First Flight Covers.

Ray Baldock started round two with a board on 1930s Tourist labels from Latvia and followed this with scenic postcards of Millport/Great & Little Cumbrae.

Alan Rushworth then gave us a board of 19th century Scottish Postal History followed by a number of covers specially signed by eminent, current UK politicians.

Sheila Sinclair showed us "Love" stamps from the USA including a cover from Romance in Arizona! with Paul McGowan (again!) giving us a board of modern Netherlands.

Ken Norris produced covers associated with Pearl Harbor in Hawaii.

President, Terry Woods showed some curiously named postmarks from Jamaica, and to finish Vice-President Derek Wiltshire displayed some "Postage Dues" from around the world.

David Haig accorded the vote of thanks.
