The Committee Entertains........

 

was the theme for our first meeting of 2004.

Paul McGowan showed some Cinderella material, Dutch labels and British Traveling Post Office (TPO) markings (now no longer used);

Derek Wiltshire chose Cartography, with maps from around the world;

Brian Dow displayed recent Norwegian issues:

David Haig, complete with sword, showed "Lord of the Rings" material from New Zealand;

Raymond Baldock selected Claude Monet, the impressionist painter;

Jessie Matthews showed Scottish superlatives,

and Ken Norris displayed Maritime material from San Diego.

 

Mike Pomeroy chose Fiscal Revenue stamps and TV licence stamps;

Alan Wishart showed a fine collection of Rotterdam postcards;

Sheila Sinclair took us to the Circus:

Alan Rushworth's one sheet display followed the route of the Crinan Canal;

Terry Woods selected some rare early machine cancellations from Scotland;

Alex Magowan showed Rugby World Cup 2003 material, but had difficulty remembering which team actually won the cup!;

and Emslie MacPherson displayed her husband's material on the grand old sport of Curling. 

Gordon McDowall provided the Vote of Thanks.

Our next meeting, on Friday 23rd January, will have fellow members Miss Jean Martin & Mrs. Helen Bruce displaying "France Postcards" and New Zealand respectively .
